You are cordially invited to join the Creative and Technology Cluster on Thursday, May 28, 2009, from 5:30 - 7:00 PM at the Culinary Center of Monterey (625 Cannery Row) for a public outreach reception.
Come learn about the initiatives in the Creative & Technology Cluster and mingle with local leaders, artists and entrepreneurs in digital media, film, music and other genres. Pick up a copy of the 2008 Impact of the Arts, Creative & Technology Cluster Industries in Monterey County and find out more about the economic impact of the creative industries. Current data alone indicate that our creative industries have an annual output of nearly one billion dollars and represent at least 7% of all jobs in Monterey County. Our cluster activity has already shown there is tremendous potential for growth in our region.
The Creative and Technology Cluster was launched in June 2008 as the sixth cluster of the countywide C2: Competitive Clusters project, a public/private partnership for economic development in Monterey County, sponsored by the . The purpose of the Creative & Technology Cluster is to bring more jobs and wealth to Monterey County by sharing ideas and resources to leverage existing and potential talent and expertise with a focus on film and video production, gaming and simulation, and interactive training and education.
Among the current participants are: Arts Council for Monterey County, L3 Communications, Access Monterey Peninsula, KMST, Endorphin Productions, Carmel.com, Dare to Dream, Advanced Onion, Rolands & Associates, Lindsay Digital, Woofco TV, TMD Creative, CSUMB, MPC, NPS, DLI, and others. Participation in the clusters program is open and new participants are welcome!

- 3D animation summer camp - Rebecca Barrymore of Carmel.com
- Sound stage / movie studio - Bob Franco of Franco Productions
- Artsopolis network - Paulette Lynch of Arts Council for Monterey County, Kim Ha of Monterey County Business Council
- Language and cultural awareness - Bobby Lee of L3 Communications
- Center for Innovation & Economic Development - Mary Ann Leffel of Monterey County Business Council
The Arts Council for Monterey County will also unveil their newly designed Web site.
Hors d'oeuvres, wine and refreshments will be provided.
